Calvary Christian School has a vibrant and growing Fine Arts Department. The Fine Arts Department is comprised of three different courses of study. Our graphic Arts (Art I, Art II and Art III) is taught by Ms. Bethany King. These courses cover drawing, painting, sculpture and ceramics. In addition, Computer Arts and Design are incorporated into the classes using our Mac lab.
Our performing arts courses are taught by Mrs. Jamie Martin. These classes include our choir and drama courses for Middle and High School students. The choir will perform several concerts throughout the year. There is also a traveling singing ensemble, "Sounds of Praise," that performs in local churches and goes on tour every year. Each year, our student body puts on a Performing Arts evening in the Fall and a Spring musical. This is an enormous undertaking and usually involves 75% of our student body. We have performed The Music Man, Beauty and the Beast, The Wizard of Oz, Annie, Seussical the Musical, and this year The Music Man. Our Elementary students put on a fantastic show for a packed house on Grandparents' Day.
Our band, under the direction of Mr. Marcus Duckworth, performs many times each year. Beginning in the 5th grade, students are taught the intricacies of instrumentation. Students who stay with it, will move up through the Elementary Band into the Middle School Band and finally the High School Band. In addition to school performances, our High School Pep Band performs at about 20 home basketball games and Pep Rallies during the basketball season.
